About this item
Wine-Red Teal and Ivory Standing-Collar Wide-Sleeve Crane-and-Lotus Mamian Skirt [Jiang Hong Dai Qing Mi Bai Li Ling Da Xiu Xian He Lian Wen Ma Mian Qun]
The outer robe is a standing-collar, front-opening wide sleeve. Cranes and lotuses are embroidered in the panels on both sides of the opening and on the sleeves, with a row of beads along the edge. In the source photos the outer robe appears in wine-red and teal, and there is also an ivory standing-collar wide sleeve. The lower skirt is an apricot woven-floral Mamian skirt, or a wine-red phoenix Mamian skirt.
A blue pendant is often seen at the front of the skirt opening. The round fan, the white-crane sculpture, and the bare branches are photo props. The source photos give no bust, waist, or garment-length figures.
Front of the wine-red outer robe: standing collar, front opening, cranes and lotuses on the panels, worn with a wine-red Mamian skirt.
From the back
The wide sleeves open to show the cranes
The wine-red outer robe is opened from the back with both sleeves spread. The square embroidery inside the sleeves is cranes and flowers. A round motif sits on the back. In this frame the hem is the apricot woven-floral Mamian skirt, not the wine-red one.
Wine-red, teal, and ivory
The teal outer robe and the wine-red outer robe are the same standing-collar front-opening wide sleeve, with crane-and-lotus embroidery on the panels and sleeves. The ivory standing-collar wide sleeve has less embroidery on the front and looks more like an inner robe worn on its own.
The skirt is not fixed when the color changes. The teal front is most often paired with the apricot skirt; the teal back frame is paired with the wine-red skirt.
Teal front. The beaded edge and the blue pendant are both there.
Ivory standing-collar wide sleeve. The round fan is a prop.
Teal back
The back of the teal outer robe also has the round motif and embroidery on the upper sleeves. In this frame the hem is the wine-red Mamian skirt, with phoenix motifs and a gold-woven border.
Wine-red lining shows inside the cuff. The bare branches and petals are set dressing.
The cranes on the sleeve
In this frame the wine-red standing-collar wide sleeve has the crane embroidered on the sleeve itself, and the two wide embroidered borders are not on the front opening. The skirt is still the wine-red Mamian skirt, with flowers and phoenix motifs along the hem.
The white-crane sculpture is a prop, not an accessory of the garment.
