The cloud shoulder shows first
The outer robe comes in two versions, cinnabar and moon white. The same cloud shoulder sits on the shoulders, the collar stands, and the sleeves are very wide. The cloud shoulder's outer edge is a wave of white ground with a red border, embroidered with butterflies and fine flowers. A white satin ribbon hangs down the middle of the front opening.
Both versions share the skirt: a cream ground, one cinnabar vertical panel on each side, with flowers on the panels. Series: Cloud Collar with Flowers and Butterflies / [Yun Jian Hua Die].
The cloud shoulder rests on the shoulders, and the wavy edge turns outward.
Cinnabar robe
When this version is worn open, the white satin ribbon falls to the skirt waist. The flowers on the sleeves are pale pink, and the leaves carry a little green. They are not an all-over print.
The round fan and the hair ornaments are styling, not part of the garment.
Cloud shoulder, close
When seated, the butterflies read more clearly. The collar is a standing collar. The cloud shoulder spreads out from either side of the collar, and the wavy edge can be counted all the way around.
The difference is the outer robe
The left stays the cinnabar robe: the floral sprigs on the sleeve edge and the cuff border can be seen. The right changes to the moon-white robe: cinnabar remains at the cuffs and the side edges, and the cloud shoulder is still white ground with a red border.
The skirt is not changed. The lantern is styling, not part of these two versions.
Sleeves open
When the hands open, the lower edge of the wide sleeves shows a light lining. A line of small flowers runs along the outer sleeve edge. The larger flowers sit on the sleeve body.
The model, the round fan, the lantern, and the hair ornaments are for effect only. The cut follows the garment.
